Website News
This page gets updated at the beginning of each month. It's purpose is to notify club members and interested visitors of the latest website activities and projects in progress, online facilities under construction, new content available for viewing or downloading including resources available only to the membership.
If you have any questions about the website that this page doesn't answer, you can always write the webmaster@richlandriders.org.

Meeting notes from January, February and March have been added to the Members Only section of the site. In addition, many forms for upcoming shows and events (including Strides) have been linked in to the Club Calendar dates. The lessons page has been updated for the 2010 season, and the Equestrian Stores page has also been updated to reflect resources throughout the state. Be sure to check the Activity roster this month as we have several projects going on to maintain the property including filling potholes, raking and cleaning out panel pens, moving jump poles, tree pruning and of course hauling junk to the landfill.
We've added a new webpage this month to honor and thank all the wonderful sponsors our club has this year. Many of these organizations have either donated money or their employees' time to help us keep the place running, and we are very proud to provide links to these businesses and organizations.
Unbelievably great weather continues to make this month ideal for practicing before our upcoming Spring Dressage show in late April. Don't miss out!

This month we're building the club's online event registration facility. Once completed, the benefits this facility will provide will include:
it will make the registration process easier, cheaper, and faster for participants to complete.
it will save the event facilitators hours of time typing, organizing and compiling this information for the events.
it will provide the club with query-able analytic information for planning future events.
The club calendar continues to get populated with new clinics, shows, lessons and projects. The latest rates for club membership and club facility use will also be posted here shortly. The Members Area continues to provide the latest notes from board meetings and general meetings.
This amazingly warm and comfortable riding weather continues this month. The sand in both arenas is in fantastic shape (having maintained it for two seasons now i can tell you its in the best shape we've ever had), and with no bugs or wasps in the air yet, with no scorching heat or high winds to deal with yet, you really owe it to yourself and your horse(s) to take full advantage of it.

A lot of behind the scenes work is happening this month at our website. Old newsletters are being reformatted, catalogued and archived for viewing with more modern document readers, directories and listings are being updated with their latest entries, the club calendar is being populated for 2010 with details and linked documents for all its listed events, and meeting notes are being posted in the Members Only section.
It's been unusually warm for winter so far, and the arena has been in fantastic shape for riding during the morning and afternoon hours. Other parts of the country are buried under feet of snow, but the sand in the two arenas is perfect for practice, lessons, drills and jumping. If you're not taking advantage of these perfect outdoor conditions, you and your horse are really missing out!

We start off the new year by posting the awards ceremony photos taken at Octoberfest 2009. Last year we had a great turnout for our shows, and we look forward to an equally successful series this year.
In addition to creating the new 2010 calendar of events (which is already shaping up quite seriously), we have two more aggressive projects planned for our website planned including:
An online membership database: a facility in which membership status and information can be maintained and queried online by the board of directors
Online Registration for our events: a far simpler, easier and faster way to get riders and their horses signed up for shows, clinics, etc.
The Membership Forum: more than a blog, a membership-restricted sounding board for any member to reach the other members when a topic needs discussion.
Quadrille is still going strong every Sunday morning as are certain lessons by hardcore instructors and students, and our first club event (Spring Dressage Show) is only 3 months away, so don't let that cold weather keep you and your horses from tuning yourselves up! As one instructor of mine once put it:
"If the wind ain't blowin, its prep time for showin."

This month we're:
building the 2010 Club Calendar from scratch with all the new event, clinic, and show dates
clearing out the blog to make room for 2010 Equestrian TV event info and other member-posted bulletins
posting the new contacts for shows and club functions
publishing the last batch of 2009 multimedia files (ex: awards ceremony photographs)
updating the club forms to reflect the new dues, bylaws and policies of the property voted by the members at the last general meeting.
I don't think any of us expected our website to get so much traffic in its first year, but we're grateful to everyone who got the word out that the new website exists, and we're also grateful to all the club volunteers who kept its pages fresh with timely relevant content. We wish all of you and your furry family and safe and enjoyable holiday season, and we look forward to all the horsing around we have planned in 2010.
